Can you put asphalt roofing shingles in a dumpster?
Direct answer
Yes. Accepted, and often at a dedicated shingle rate because they are heavy and many regions have asphalt recycling markets for them. Tell the hauler it is a roof job when you order — shingle loads are usually priced differently from mixed debris. Confirm with your hauler before you load it, because a rejected load is billed to whoever rented the container.

How to handle it so it costs less
One roofing square is 100 square feet of coverage. Three-tab runs about 250 lb per square and architectural shingles closer to 400, so a 30 square tear-off is roughly 3.7 to 6 tons before you add underlayment or a second layer.
