The share of a project’s waste, by weight, kept out of landfill through recycling or salvage. The number building inspectors ask about.

## What else to know about diversion rate

California’s CALGreen requires at least 65% for covered projects. Documentation is the requirement — a facility’s reports and haul tags, which cannot be reconstructed after the container leaves.
